RSS in Outlook 12The MS Outlook Program Manager, Michael Affronti, has posted an article (Part 1) on his weblog about the RSS Aggregation in Outlook 12: “RSS Aggregation in Outlook is aimed at providing the user with a consistent look, feel, and experience while interacting with RSS feeds and related information. While RSS can be a complex technology to interact with, Outlook will merge the complexities and cover it with our friendly user interface.
Judging by the screenshot on his weblog it seems that managing RSS feeds will be a bit like managing newsgroups in Outlook (does anybody still use that?). But it’s clear to see that the possibilities of RSS in Outlook will bring millions of new businesspeople into the RSS world! Like Scoble writes: This is HUGE.

I could not agree more. And in his opinion, the overload problem will be obvious to the masses once Outlook 12 (and IE7) introduce RSS capabilities to the rank and file “knowledge worker.” Outlook 12 will help cause information overload, not help mitigate it. But, that’s where Attensa comes in… Intelligent utilization of Attention data is paramount. Counting links or assigning static weights to articles will not cut it. By the way, attention is not just tracking browser clicks either. While we are championing attention categorically we are already starting to worry about the bastardization of the term.
