6 Ways To Get Your Blog Post Ranking In Google

Are you frustrated with the lack of views and engagement on your blog posts? Wondering why your blog never seems to rank in Google no matter how hard you try?

2. On-page SEO

The most important places to use your keywords and phrases are in your:

  • Title tag

In terms of blog post formats, list posts, ‘why’ posts, and ‘how to’ posts tend to be the best, with list posts getting the most links and shares (eg, ’10 Best Ways to Get Your First Customer “).

4. Number of words

First of all, it is important to note that there is no specific and “optimal” word count. Extremely short content (e.g. 50 words) is known to outperform 1000 word blog posts, suggesting that all length can work if written well.

Unfortunately, research tells us that most content is never very successful online. One reason may be that many business owners don’t have a plan in place to promote and distribute their blog posts.

One of the best ways to get your posts visible is to share them on social media. Assuming you’ve already built up your audience on various platforms, you should share your posts with your own fans and subscribers. If you don’t have an audience yet, you can invest in inexpensive social ads to get more clicks and build your follower base.

Facebook or LinkedIn industry groups and online forums can also be great places to promote your posts. Just be clear about the group’s promotion policies so you don’t get into trouble with self-promotion.

6. Get links to your blog posts

The last step in getting your blog post ranking in Google is to link to that post. While most business owners spend time acquiring links to their homepage and other high-value pages, many forget to link to specific posts.

Obtaining these highly targeted links can be difficult unless your blog posts are extremely useful, practical and / or unique. However, as mentioned above, if you create “link-worthy” content, you have the best chance of naturally accumulating links from other bloggers and journalists.

  • Inform bloggers and journalists of specific articles that may be of interest to them. Research-backed publications tend to work best for this, especially if you include your own original research.
