Just over three months from the next big Destiny 2 expansion, the game is set to undergo some pretty significant ability changes in an upcoming patch in mid-December. Detailed in a new blog post, Bungie is launching this bombshell just ahead of its 30th anniversary, along with a few more changes to Trials of Osiris. The latter shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the dev team has been tweaking the PvP mode for quite some time. These changes will come right before the introduction of a new Loot Cave dungeon, and don’t forget the Gjallarhorn rocket launcher, a fan favorite of the original. destiny title, coming back soon too. As expected, Shatterdive is getting (another) nerf in the next patch. Ability cooldowns will also change, as implied by a long list of weapon changes. Bungie explains that the goal of this patch is to change Destiny 2 more towards shooter and less towards abilities, as a common complaint from the community is that the game’s PvP is too heavy on ability spam as opposed to a good shooter.
Linear Fusion Rifles will benefit from a 10% damage increase in PvE, as will Shotguns. The Vex Mythoclast is nerfed as well, especially in its aim assist and full overload trigger. Cryosthesia 77K has its variable trigger removed, and its charged shot will no longer cost an entire magazine. (Read the full gun changes here – they’re pretty detailed and plentiful.)
Trials of Osiris will get changes in Capture Zone mode. The capture point will be indicated at the start of a turn and will appear in a neutral zone to reduce bias. The map is being changed for Endless Vale, which offers a larger and more accessible central space for both teams.
Destiny 2 is available to play on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, Google Stadia, and PC. The next expansion of the game The witch queen falls on February 22, 2022.
