With the catchy headline “13 Things Every Men Should Know About Pregnant Women” and a witty comment to accompany each item on the list, Aaron Gouveia has clinched gold on the internet.
The Norton resident, 34, the son of Sun Chronicle columnist and Norton Town moderator Bill Gouveia, wrote the list 15 months ago when his wife was pregnant with their second child, Sam, but the list had a second wind, thanks to the Huffington Post.
Gouveia’s list was shared on the Huffington Post Facebook page and featured on the Huffington Post website. networking site.
“I am really devastated,” he said. “It’s been a weird, weird race.”
Gouveia, who writes a fatherhood blog called The Daddy Files, said he felt compelled to write about the topic because he knew it was something men were interested in.
Through analyzes of his website, he is able to see which search terms are bringing readers to his blog and can see that it is a topic that attracts people.
“It’s something that guys are clearly looking for,” he said.
To remedy this, he wrote an article on what men could expect in a fun and ironic way.
On her list of things to expect are things like “Feed her constantly”, “Prepare to gain weight” and “You’ll be replaced by pillows.”
And yes, his wife found the list amusing.
Although the post resonates clearly with people as it scours the internet, Gouveia said not everyone is happy.
“I’ve had my fair share of criticism,” he said. “I have been accused of being sexist.
Despite the little negativity, Gouveia said it was fun reading people’s comments and watching the story go viral.
“It’s pretty amazing,” he said. “Watching the numbers go up is pretty cool.”
