Lost Ark devs promise big changes in new blog post

The new transparent message discusses progress, future updates, and botting.

Transparency is a trait that can be hard to find among game developers, but it seems Smilegate and Amazon Games understand its importance. In a long new blog post on the official website lost ark blog, the development team reaches out to gamers and offers a behind-the-scenes look at what’s to come. The team also addresses issues related to traffic congestion and rare materials.

A large number of players in the game have progressed through lost arkLevel 1 and 2 content from at their own pace, which the post confirms is the correct way to play – when it was released in other regions, Level 3 did not yet exist. Tier 3 is more of an endgame point, in which players who are familiar with the game mechanics can find better loot and tougher fights. Earlier this month, however, the Abyss Raid Argos was released, requiring a very hard-to-obtain item that only players with lots of time or money could attain. This instantly gave players the impression that lost ark was pay to win.

“We made a mistake by releasing the March game update too soon after launch. The data we analyzed alongside Smilegate RPG from their previous launches predicted that a larger portion of players would have reached the level required to challenge Argos,” the post reads. “However, we overlooked some variables, such as players spending more time on horizontal content and the price of break-in materials increasing due to bots and transactions in real money. These factors have contributed to the scarcity of T3 break-in materials. Together, our teams at Amazon Games and Smilegate RPG continue to collect data on gameplay patterns in the Western release to better inform our future content roadmap.

The current shortage of level 3 materials is causing problems, so the development team is adding more pre-existing material sources and new, easier events.
