Naughty Dog is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception with a special blog featuring keywords from key team members.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception released 10 years ago on November 1, 2011 and arguably cemented Naughty Dog’s status as one of Sony’s most prolific proprietary studios. It builds on the ideas introduced in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and upped the stakes by adding more exciting sets as well as thrilling chase sequences.
Some of the sets from Uncharted 3 remain breathtaking to this day, as the moment of the cargo plane. The story was also much more personal, as it questioned Drake’s thirst for adventure and its effect on the lives of those close to him. He revealed a shocking truth about the mysterious past of Nathan Drake, who played a key role in the story of Unexplored 4. 10 years after its release, Naughty Dog published a special blog on its official website, celebrating the launch of Uncharted 3.
The message contains words from Evan Wells, Christian Gyrling and Kurt Margenau. They shared some of their favorite memories from the development cycle of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, as well as some crucial learning lessons. When asked about their favorite scene from the game, Evan and Kurt commented on the streak involving Nate lost in the wilderness, while Christian mentioned Castle’s memorable level. Naughty Dog shared many ideas about developing Uncharted 3, including a last minute patch that fixed a major bug.
Replies to the Tweet are filled with fans sharing their love for the game, and some have asked Naughty Dog to bring in the multiplayer component of Uncharted 3 to modern systems. The game’s multiplayer servers were shut down in 2019 and The Nathan Drake collection, which consisted of remasters of the first 3 games, only contains the main story.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception was also featured extensively in the trailer for the Unexplored movie. While some fans disagree with the cast choice for Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan, it looks like the game’s iconic airplane sequence will be faithfully recreated on the big screen.
There has always been a heated discussion around Uncharted 3ranks among the best games developed by Naughty Dog. Some think it wasn’t as special as Unexplored 2 Where Unexplored 4, while others consider it the best game in the series. Independently, Uncharted 3 has played a key role in the success of Naughty Dog over the past decade, and many fans are patiently awaiting the next main game in this beloved franchise.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is now available on PS3 and PS4.
